Helen Suplizio, 93, formerly of DuBois, died Monday, July 14, 2014 at Christ the King Manor. Born Feb. 24, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Julia (Lesega) Hoskavich.
On Oct. 11, 1941 in Sykesville, she married James Suplizio. He preceded her in death in April of 2008.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
She was a charter member of the Friendship Hose Company No. 2 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Christ the King Manor Auxiliary. She was active in the former Sons of Italy in DuBois and a member of the Brockway Sons of Italy.
She’s survived by her son, Ronald J. Suplizio of Largo, Fla. and her daughter, Marsha McCurdy and her husband, James of Brockway; three sisters, Anastasia Murone and Dorothy Scull and her husband, Ronald, both of DuBois, and Martha Esposito of Brockway; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Michael, Stephen, Harry and Joseph Hoskavich and two sisters, Mary Larsen and Anna Topeck.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. Friday at the chapel at Christ the King Manor.
A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel at Christ the King Manor with Msgr. Desmond McGee as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
