European Markets Advance Broadly

London (AHN) - European stocks bounced back broadly across the Continent on Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index rose 4.2 points, or 1.8 percent, to 239.13. The gauge advanced from its lowest level in a month after slipping 4.1 percent from its high for the year on Oct. 19. Quarterly earnings of 60 percent of the 173 companies in the index have been expectations.

All 18 western European markets saw gains in their benchmark indices.

In Paris, the CAC-40 advanced 86 points, or 2.4 percent, while in Frankfurt the DAX rose 91 points, or 1.7 percent. The FTSE 100 added 71 points, or 1.4 percent, in London.
