Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Former "Miami Vice" star Dennis Farina had been arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport Sunday after he was found to have a loaded gun in his briefcase.
According to the authorities, Farina, 64, forgot he was carrying the gun, a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol. He drove from Arizona to L.A. to get on a flight to Chicago.
The actor was arrested. His charge was raised to a felony crime after officers discovered the gun wasn't registered. His bail is now set at $35,000.
His charge was supposed to be just a misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm and his bail was $25,000.
Reports indicate that he was "very apologetic and cooperative with officers. However, he had no apparent authority to carry a concealed weapon at the time of his arrest."
Aside from Miami Vice, Farina had also been known in television as Det. Joe Fontana from "Law & Order." He is set to host "Unsolved Mysteries" when it returns to the small screen on Spike TV this October.
