Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Scott Weiland has been freed from jail - six hours after just checking in. The Stone Temple Pilot lead was released from jail Monday, 7 days and 18 hours early of his 8-day sentence.

Weiland, 40, walked out from Van Nuys Jail after being released around 6:45pm.

The former Velvet Revolver vocalist was sentenced to eight days imprisonment after he pleaded no contest April 28 to misdemeanor driving under the influence for plowing his vehicle into another car in November. Aside from a jail stint, he was ordered to complete an alcohol program for 18 months and pay $2,000 fine. He will be on probation for four years.

Meanwhile, the STP will be performing their first concert in five years this Saturday in Columbus, Ohio.
