Paris Hilton Threatens New Zealand Billboard Company With Lawsuit Over Unauthorized Photo Use

Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - Paris Hilton is threatening a New Zealand billboard company for using her image without permission. The heiress was left fuming after she discovered her picture is being used to advertise vacant billboard space in Auckland.

The billboard in question shows the 28-year-old "Simple Life" star's smiling photo with huge "vacant" word lettering across it.

Her manager claims Media5 doesn't have permission to use the picture, threatening to include lawyers to settle the matter.

Adam McGregor from the company explains to Sunday Star-Times that they were just "having a bit of fun."

He says Media5 wanted to draw attention to some of their unsold billboard display. They figured out Hilton's image would be great for their ad because she has a "proven ability to laugh at herself."

McGregor adds that they assumed the agency that they asked to work up with the idea has taken care of the rights to the images. Still, if Hilton's lawyers asked for her image to be removed, they would probably oblige.
