Anne Lu - Celebrity News Service News Writer

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - There's no doubt anymore. It's Taylor Swift's year. The 19-year-old country/pop songstress has swept the 2009 American Music Awards, beating industry veterans including the late Michael Jackson with the most number of wins.

She won five trophies at the music show held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, including Artist of the Year. She also won Pop/Rock Female Artist, Adult-Contemporary Artist, Country Album for "Fearless," and Country Female Artist.

Swift, who was in London at that time, accepted her wins via satellite, saying, "To even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson… is an unimaginable honor… I'm sending my love to the Jackson family."

Jackson, meanwhile, was posthumously honored with four awards: Pop/Rock Male Artist, Pop/Rock Album for "Number Ones," Soul/R&B Male Artist, and Soul/R&B Album for "Number Ones."

His brother Jermaine Jackson accepted the trophies on his behalf, while sister Janet wowed the crowd with a medley of her hits.

Keith Urban won Country Male Artist, Beyonce scored Soul/R&B Female Artist, while husband Jay-Z dominated the two awards for the Rap/Hip-Hop category. The Black Eyed Peas were named Pop/Rock and Soul/R&B Band, Duo or Group.

As announced earlier, Whitney Houston was honored with the International Artist of the Year.

Performers for the night included Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, BEP, Eminem and 50 Cent, Lady Gaga, Carrie Underwood, Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, and Adam Lambert.
