Cleveland, OH (AHN) - Le Bron James, the NBA's leading scorer converted only 5-of-16 from the floor for 21 points but his teammates came to the rescue shooting a combined 59 percent to lift the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 108-84 victory over the Boston Celtics Saturday night to cut the Boston's series lead 2-1.
James, who went 22.4 percent from the field in the first three games, was used by the Cavs' as decoy to free a teammate. The ploy worked well to the Cavs' advantage as James' teammates converted 32-of-54 shots from the floor while attempting to become the 14th team in NBA history to come back from a 0-2 deficit and win the best-of-seven series
Cleveland's Fab Four of Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith and Ben Wallace-acquired from a blockbuster deal in February, combined for a total of 63 points, with six 3-pointers and pulling a total of 20 boards. West scored 21 points with four coming from the 3-point area and added seven assists, while Smith added 17 points on a 7-of-8 shooting off the bench. Wallace, who was uncertain to start due to an inner ear infection, chipped in nine points and collected nine rebounds while checking Boston's forward Kevin Garnett's inside game.
Boston's Big Three on the other hand, combined for only 41 points. Kevin Garnett scored 17 points, while Pierce added 14 points going 3-of 8 from the floor. Ray Allen chipped in 10 points.
Cleveland dominated from the start shooting 13-of-20 for 65 percent to end the first quarter with a 32-12 lead. At the end of the first half the Cavs' were up by 17 points with the lead at 52-35.
The Cavaliers shot 65.5 percent in the first half and was 53.6 percent for the game, becoming the first postseason opponent team to surpass the 50 percent mark against the league's No.1 defense. Meanwhile, Boston, which finished fourth overall in shooting in the regular season, failed to reach the 50 percent mark for the ninth time in 10 playoff games.
Boston's reserve wasn't much of a factor as James Posey only scored 11 points while Leon Powe chipped in six points. Sam Cassell, who recently joined the Celtics, also struggled in 18 minutes of play coming up with only one point for Boston which hasn't won on the road in the postseason.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 12 points and added eight rebounds and six assists for the Cavs.
