Colorado Springs, CO (AHN) - American weightlifter Josh Moreau has been suspended for two years following a second infraction of the anti-doping rules, according to the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) Monday.
The 26-year-old, who placed third at the 2007 National Championships, was assessed a two year suspension by an independent arbitrator from the North American Court of Arbitration for Sport on Monday after testing positive for metabolites of cannabis at the Weightlifting National Championships on May 2007. Moreau was placed on provisional suspension starting August 3, 2007, and will begin serving the two-year suspension from that period.
Moreau's record in the National Championships in 2007 will also be stricken off.
Moreau was first meted suspension in late 2006 after testing positive for marijuana, but was unable to serve the three-month suspension after taking part in an education program.
