Cooperstown, N.Y. (AHN) - A new Hall of Fame classic featuring baseball's legends and old-timers is slated to debut next season replacing the Hall of Fame Game that was discontinued this season due to scheduling problems.
The inaugural Hall of Fame Classic is slated to kick off on June 21- Father's Day and the first day of summer.
Amidst objections from different sectors, including members of Congress, Major League Baseball decided in late January to terminate the Hall of Fame game because of scheduling problems.
Four Hall of Famers and more than 20 other retired major leaguers are expected to play in next June's game, with the final lineup to be announced at a later date.
The last time the exhibition game was played was between the Chicago Cubs and the San Diego Padres last June 16, which was rained out.
