San Diego, CA (AHN) - Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman decided to become partial owner of baseball's San Diego Padres, and even tossed out the first pitch at the team's game Thursday.
While the pitch one-hopped to catcher Chris Young - Aikman expressed concern that people actually saw that. Padres fans hope that's not indicative of future karma.
Aikman came to hold a stake in the Padres with his friend and business partner Jeff Moorad. The financial agreement was signed sometime earlier this year.
Within five years, Moorad's group plans to hold and own the entire Padres organization. They have started with 35 percent.
According to MLB.com, Aikman was once interested in playing baseball - and even had a discussion with the Mets one day before the draft.
Aikman gave them a figure they could not possibly accept, and went on to play at Oklahoma... and then the Dallas Cowboys for 12 outstanding seasons.
During his career with the Cowboys, Aikman was a six-time Pro Bowler from 1991-1996. He threw for 32,942 yards and 165 touchdowns.
