Cleveland, OH (AHN) - Jamal Lewis has had enough of the Browns. Following their 30-6 blow-out to the Chicago Bears, Lewis announced plans to retire after this year.
At the top of his game, Lewis was easily one of the best running backs in the league. While with the Baltimore Ravens, he went for 2066 yards in 2003.
Since moving to the Browns in 2007, he has posted two thousand plus seasons, though has slipped in light of Cleveland's inefficient and ineffective offense this season.
He has only gone for 349 yards, and is on par to have only his second 'under 1000' yard season in his career.
When asked whether retirement was a knee-jerk reaction to yet another Browns loss, Lewis fired back saying throughout his career, he always means what he says.
The announcement was on the heels of a fumbled play between Derek Anderson and Jamal Lewis, neither of which took responsibility.
Lewis claimed he never really had the ball, while Anderson said he got it clean from him and he didn't know what happened after that.
A 10 year veteran of the league, he had a Pro-Bowl showing back in 2003, and got himself a ring at Super Bowl XXXV, where the Ravens took down the New York Giants.
