Fightin' Phils? Only On Field, Not In Clubhouse

AHN Sports Staff

Philadelphia, PA (AHN) - The reported post-game confrontation between Brett Myers and Cole Hamels following Game 5 of the World Series never occurred.

Myers and a Phillies official both dispelled the reported locker room tussle. Two media members, who witnessed the non-event, also disputed the report.

The report stemmed when Myers responded to a query regarding the whereabouts of his friend Hamels with the common inside Phils joke that "he quit".

When Myers saw the left-hander at his locker; he dropped the line on Hamels, who reportedly countered with a lighthearted expletive.

Myers, who throws right, apologized later after learning of the comments of Hamels, MVP of the 2008 World Series and NLCS following Game 3 of the current World Series.

The struggling Hamels reportedly indicated then that he wanted to pitch in a potential Game 7 in the Fall Classic.

The defending World Series champs Phillies forced a Game 6 following an 8-6 victory Monday. Philadelphia trails the New York Yankees 3-2 in the on-going World Series.
