Flyers' Gagne Could Miss Two Months Due To Abdomen Injury

AHN Sports Staff

Philadelphia, PA (AHN) - Philadelphia Flyers star forward Simon Gagne, who was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 26, will undergo hernia and abdominal surgery Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Gagne, the Flyers alternate captain, is expected to be sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks.

Gagne tried playing through the discomfort until an ultrasound revealed he was suffering from two small hernias.

In nine games played, the two-time NHL All-Star tallied just one goal.

He underwent similar hernia and abdominal surgery after the 2006-07 campaign.

Gagne registered 34 goals last season.
