Former Giants GM Accorsi Denies Interest In Current Browns Vacancy

Matthew Harvey - AHN Sports Reporter

Cleveland, OH (AHN) - The search for a replacement for departed Cleveland Browns general manager George Kokinis is on-going, but one person who does not seem to be interested is former GM Ernie Accorsi.

Accorsi currently works as a consultant for the league, and has said he has no interest in taking any GM job, as he doesn't wish to work full time.

Accorsi has aided the Browns, particularly Randy Lerner, several times in the past. He even served as an unpaid advisor in an unofficial manner before George Kokinis was found.

Kokinis was against Accorsi's recommendation. According to the Plain Dealer, Accorsi had recommended Dave Gettleman, an executive with the Giants.

He served as Cleveland's GM from 1985 to 1992.

He then moved to the New York Giants, where he became famous after making the deal that landed them Eli Manning in exchange for Philip Rivers, and three other draft picks.
