West Virginia Voters Head To Polls

Charleston, WV (AHN) - Polls for West Virginia's presidential primaries opened Tuesday at 6:30 a.m. ET. Turnout is expected to be high among the state's 1.1 million registered voters, more than 600,000 of whom are Democrats.

Apart from being one of most significant primaries in state history, independents and Republican voters will be able to vote for the first time in West Virginia's Democratic contest.

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) is heavily favored to win most of the state's 28 pledged delegates; pre-primary surveys had her leading by as much as 43 points over Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL).
