Man Stabbed To Death After Argument Over NYC Subway Seat

David Goodhue - AHN Reporter

New York, NY (AHN) - A man was fatally stabbed on a New York subway train early Saturday morning after he argued with his alleged attacker over a seat.

Local television station WPIX reports that police arrested Gerardo Sanchez, 37, and charged him with murder.

Sanchez and 36-year-old Dwight Johnson reportedly got into an argument on the northbound D train in Midtown Manhattan at around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Sanchez wanted to sit where Johnson was sitting, according to the New York Daily News.

Police say Sanchez pulled a knife and repeatedly stabbed Johnson in the neck and face. About 24 witnesses ran to the other side of the train. One passenger told the conductor through an intercom what had happened. He locked down the train and called his colleagues, who called the police.

Sanchez threw his knife on the tracks, but police found it.
