COALPORT - A Clearfield-based state police fire marshall assisted the Glendale Fire Department in the investigation of a fire that occurred at a residenc ein Coalport Thursday morning.
The home was owned by Joseph Ponist of Coalport. Living there was Tyler Holes of Coalport.
According to police the investigation revealed that the fire was accidental in nature and originated in a rear bedroom when a portable electric heater ignited nearby combustibles.
It is unknown if the heater malfunctioned, was placed too close to combustibles or was knocked over by a cat.
Damage is estimated at around $50,000.
