I-80 Accident Leaves New York Resident Moderately Injured

PINE TOWNSHIP - According to state police in Clearfield an early morning accident left one New York driver injured.

The accident occurred around 4:14 a.m. Thursday morning near mile marker 108.5. A 45-year-old Ridgewood, N.Y. man was traveling west in the right lane, as was Jerry Wardalski of Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Ridgewood man lost control of his vehicle causing him to strike Wardalski's vehicle. After impact Wardalski traveled to the right berm and came to rest facing west. The Ridgewood man came to rest in in the right lane of traffic, also facing west.

The Ridgewood man was taken to Altoona regional for treatment of moderate injuries while it was reported that Wardalski suffered no injuries.

Police were assisted at the scene by PennDOT, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services and the Lawrence Township Fire Department.

A traffic citation will be filed against the Ridgewood man for careless driving and the investigation continues.
