Fatal Accident Claims Delaware Woman's Life

RIDGWAY – A multi-vehicle, fatal accident claimed the life of a 73-year-old Dover, DE woman Friday afternoon along state Route 219, the Ridgway State Police reported.

According to police, the accident occurred as Angela M. Tassone, 46, of Johnsonburg, was traveling south on SR 219. The Tassone vehicle began to slow to turn into a private driveway. Jack Cyphert, Jr., 56, of Ridgway, failed to see her vehicle and struck its rear end. The Tassone vehicle was then forced into the path of a 2004 Buick Century Sedan. The two vehicles struck each other before the Sedan impacted a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Truck, which was legally parked, at the time of the collision.

Both Cyphert and Tassone were transported to the Elk Regional Health Center, St. Marys Campus, for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.

Police said the accident is still under investigation but believe speeding is a “causatory factor.”

Police were assisted at the scene by the Johnsonburg Police Department, Ambulance and Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Ridgway Police Department and Ambulance.
