Project SOAR Tutoring Program to Operate in Clearfield County Schools

CLEARFIELD - Cen-Clear Child Services, Inc has been awarded monies through a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant to operate the Project SOAR Program.

Project SOAR is a free program scheduled to operate in Clearfield, Curwensville, DuBois, Glendale, Harmony, Moshannon Valley, Philipsburg Osceola, and West Branch High Schools. Project SOAR will serve 9th – 11th grade students who need help improving their math and reading skills. The program will offer individualized academic support in an atmosphere that’s fun and exciting for teens.

Through the program participants will also have an opportunity to explore career possibilities, participate in educational field trips, develop their leadership skills, and accumulate community service hours towards graduation requirements.

Project SOAR will kick off with a math session that will run for three weeks in July, followed by a reading session that will run for three weeks between July and August. Participants are welcome to attend both sessions if they need help in math and reading or may choose to attend only one of the sessions provided.

A Career Camp will be held at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center and is tentatively scheduled for August. Here participants will have an opportunity to explore six of the career areas offered through the CCCTC, for a hands-on career exploration experience.
