CLEARFIELD – A Grampian man was arraigned and placed in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail after selling marijuana to an undercover police officer in August of last year, the Lawrence Township Police Department reported today.
According to police, Randy J. Hanes sold a small amount of marijuana - a $60 bag - to an undercover officer who is a member of the Clearfield County Drug Task Force.
Police said on the day of the incident, Hanes was contacted by an informant to arrange for the purchase of a “small, big bag of marijuana for a friend,” who was the undercover officer.
After meeting with Hanes, the informant introduced his friend. The two engaged in “small talk” about the possibility of future business before making the exchange.
The Lawrence Township Police Department worked with a local agent from the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics. Police said the investigation has since been closed.
