CLEARFIELD – A woman accused of hitting a motorcyclist then fleeing the scene waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Julie Cueto, 25 of Clearfield, is charged with DUI, aggravated assault (DUI related), accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property, reckless driving, two counts of careless driving, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property, institutional vandalism, duty to give information and render aid, overtaking vehicle on left, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.
According to court records the Lawrence Township Police Department was called to an accident on July 8. It is alleged that while Cueto was traveling north on state Route 153 she attempted to pass a motorcycle on the left. In the attempt she struck the bike, causing the operator to lose control.
According to the report, Cueto then fled the scene.
The bike operator was taken by Clearfield Emergency Medical Services to Clearfield Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Police reported that Cueto continued on Mt. Zion Road where she struck a mailbox, an embankment and then a set of guide rails. According to the report Cueto left a path of debris and there were noticeable marks on the roadway from where the rim of her flattened tire made contact with the road.
Police found her vehicle on Mt. Zion Road between Nelson Road and the Hoover/Nelson Road. The report states that she was standing at the rear of the vehicle yelling at a man. She would not identify herself to officers and reportedly created a hazardous environment.
Police placed her in custody due to her behavior. She reportedly staggered while being walked to the police cruiser. She was placed in the car and was identified, though police stated that she would not give her date of birth.
The report states that she had glassy eyes and was aggressive.
Records indicate that while in the car she began to head butt the passenger side window. She was advised to stop hitting the window.
She reportedly told police that her boyfriend and father were police officers.
While the reporting officer, Shawn Fye attempted to contact the Clearfield County District Attorney’s Office, Cueto is reported to have kicked out the passenger side window of the police car.
She was then shackled to secure her feet and handcuffs together to avoid any more damage to the police car.
The affidavit of probable cause also states that Cueto made statements that she had consumed alcohol earlier in the day and had also taken medication.
Cueto is free on $50,000 supervised bail.
