CLEARFIELD- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation issues the following travel alert for the Clearfield County, Interstate 80 improvement project.
• Beginning Wednesday, the eastbound travel (right) lane from mile marker 112 to mile marker 119 (near Clearfield) will be closed. A 12-foot width lane restriction will remain in place until Friday, August 22. • The westbound passing lane will remain closed between mile marker 97 and mile marker 101 (near DuBois).
The HARS (Highway Advisory Radio System) are in use and motorist can tune their radio to 1640 AM for the latest construction advisories.
Channelizers are being used for the lane closures with speeds reduced to 45 MPH during working hours and 55 MPH during non-working hours. Pennsylvania State Police are assisting with traffic control and speed enforcement. Motorists should be alert for slowed traffic and possible travel delays. Crews will be working from 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, with all work weather dependent.
Along with patching, the 23.5 mile improvement work will include new pavement joints, pavement overlay and resurfacing, shoulder upgrades, drainage, structure repair, rehabilitation and painting, guide rail, and pavement markings. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $53 million, multi-year job. PennDOT will continue to issue regular updates on this project as changes occur.
PennDOT reminds motorists to travel with extreme caution through work zones, obey posted speed limits, and to always buckle up. For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, visit PennDOT’s Web site.
