Union Township ATV Accident Claims Life of Julian Man

UNION TOWNSHIP - State police in Philipsburg are investigating an ATV accident that claimed the life of a Julian man on Saturday.

According to police Mark L. Flick, 33, was operating an ATV on state Route 4004 (Bush Hollow Road) when he lost control while entering a left turn in the road. He traveled off the west side of the road and struck the guide rail. The vehicle went airborne for about 16 feet before landing on the ground. The vehicle then traveled another 11 feet before striking a tree. Flick came to rest at the tree while the ATV overturned and traveled another six feet.

Flick was pronounced dead at the scene. Police stated that he was not wearing a helmet and suffered severe head injuries.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Centre County Deputy Coroner, Deborah Smeal. Police were also assisted by Mt. Nittany Medical Center paramedics, Bellefonte Ambulance and Milesburg Volunteer Fire Department.
