CBPD Warns Residents of Phone Scams

(GantDaily Graphic)

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Borough Police Department wants to warn area residents about a couple of phone scams that were recently brought to their attention.

One area resident received a call from someone posing as a representative from a financial institution. The caller wanted personal information and stated that the resident has a lean on their property. The resident confirmed that there was no lean on the property.

In the other scam, residents have been receiving phone calls from a 305-000-496 number. The call is prerecorded and prompts the resident to eventually supply credit card information. When that number is called, it does not exist.

Residents should not provide information in these instances. Police encourage residents to hang-up when they receive these kinds of calls.
