CLEARFIELD – On Thursday ground was broken on a project roughly three years in the making. Officials gathered for the groundbreaking of Leonard Court Apartments, a project that began in 2006.

The senior housing project is for a 10,353 square foot, 12-unit apartment complex located on Leonard Street in Lawrence Township.

Each unit is 540 square feet, with one bedroom, a living room, kitchen and bathroom. Two units will be fully handicap-accessible. The building will also include a community room, laundry facilities and a room for crafts, hair salon or exercise.

Stacy LoCastro, deputy director for Central PA Community Action Inc., stated that the project is slated for completion in May 2010.

Hudson Companies from Pittsburgh is the project developer and John Gruitza and Associates is the architect firm.

Applications for housing will be accepted at a later date. For income limits and guidelines, contact Central PA Community Action.
