Falls Creek Gunman Identified, Arraigned

(GantDaily Graphic)

FALLS CREEK - A man taken into custody after a standoff with police between Oct. 4 and 5 has been identified as 47-year-old Daniel Ray Yount of Falls Creek.

According to a previous GantDaily article, police reported that a trooper arrived at an Old Grade Road, Washington Township, Jefferson County, address at about 9:30 p.m. in response to an incident there. Yount reportedly discharged a shotgun and then entered a home and barricaded himself inside.

Police spoke with Yount by telephone for about three hours. Communication came to a halt, but a state police Special Emergency Response Team continued the telephone conversation to talk Yount into coming outside.

Yount was taken into custody and then to DuBois Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

On Oct. 9 Yount was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Inzana on charges of person not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms and disorderly conduct.

Yount is currently being held in Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail.
