Athlete of the Week -- 5/28 - 6/3

The Gant Daily athlete of the week for the week of May 28 through June 3 is Clearfield softball pitcher Mandy Rowles.

Rowles earned her second athlete of the week title for the same reason she won it the first time - shutting out D9 AAA rival Punxsutawney. Rowles led the Bisons to a 4-0 win in the district title game by allowing no runs, only walking one batter, striking out four, and also scored two runs herself.

The week was not short on candidates:
In that title game that Clearfield won, the Bisons were led offensively by Senior slugger Brittany Pataky, who went 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs, including the eventual game winner.

Curwensville ace Holly Lansberry had her typical dominating week by picking up two wins in the D9 A playoffs, including a shut out in the championship game.

Curwensville was led offensively in their semi final win over Smethport by Shannon McDonald, who went 3 for 3 with an RBI. She also caught the final out of the game.

4 Clearfield strength athletes won Anti-Drug Athletes United National Powerlifting titles over the weekend in Hagerstown, MD -- Adrianne Zimmerman, Samantha Snyder, Rachel Clarke, and Al Siegel (who calimed his 21st National title).
