Atlantic City Delays Indoor Smoking Ban

David Goodhue - AHN Reporter

Atlantic City, NJ (AHN) - Atlantic City smokers are allowed again to light up in casinos.

The Atlantic City Council lifted its casino smoking ban one month after it went into effect.

The City Council passed the ban in April, but the nationwide economic downturn reached the casino industry, and city council members voted to delay the ban for at least one year.

The ban went into effect on Oct. 15 and included all the city's 11 casinos.

Proponents of lifting the ban say Atlantic City's casinos will be better able to compete with neighboring establishments that still permit indoor smoking.
