Gantdaily.com in partnership with the Clearfield County Tourism and Recreation Authority and its partners are sponsoring a photo contest to capture images of people, places and activities throughout Clearfield County.

 

OVERVIEW Submission Information and Rules: 

 

PHOTO FORMAT

All photo entries must be submitted electronically, via the gantdaily/CCRTA photo contest page or on Photo Disk (no printed photos will be accepted).   Photo disks may be mailed to:   Photo Contest, Gant Daily, PO Box 746, Clearfield, PA  16830.

 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Each entry must note the date and location the photo was taken and the names of the people in the photo.  Photos must include your name, hometown and telephone number, email address.  For photos taken by children, must include the child’s age.  BY SUBMITTING A PHOTOGRAPH TO THIS CONTEST, THE PHOTOGRAPHER CONFIRMS THAT HE/SHE IS THE CREATOR OF THE PHOTOGRAPH AND IS IN LEGAL POSSESSION OF ITS COPYRIGHTS, AND AGREES TO RELEASE THE WORK(S) TO THE CCRTA, ITS PARTNERS, AND MEDIA AGENCIES FOR USE IN COUNTY TOURISM PROMOTION.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES

Spring- Monday, June 16  (Photos will be submitted to judges on 16.  Online judging through June 30th.)

Summer-Monday, September 15  (Photos will be submitted to judges on 16th.  Online judging through September 30th).

Fall—Monday, November 17, 2008   (Photos will be submitted to judges on 18th.  Online judging through November 30th.

 

JUDGING & PRIZES: 

Five finalists per each category will be selected by an independent panel of judges (provided by the CCRTA) among all entries received. Judging will be based on  uniqueness , quality, and ability to capture essence of Clearfield county through each category.   Each of the finalists per season will be displayed on gantdaily.com for “people’s choice” voting.   

 

The top 3 finalists with the most votes will have their photographs displayed at the Winkler Gallery of Fine Art in downtown DuBois and will receive a complimentary Curwensville Lake Pavilion rental and 5 lake entry passes.    Each of the top finalists per season category will receive a Clearfield County t-shirt.

 

Full contest terms and conditions: 

  1. Each photo should have the permission of the persons shown.
  2. Photographers may enter as many times as you like per each contest round.  Participation is free of charge. gantdaily.com employees, CCRTA employees, contest judges and their immediate family may not participate.
  3. Submitted photos must relate to the stated subject of the respective contest rounds
  4. Submitted entries must be free of signatures, frames or similar elements that are not part of the actual photograph.
  5. All photos must be RGB or Grayscale JPEG files, minimum size of 300dpi.
  6. By submitting a photograph to this contest, the photographer confirms that he/she is the creator of the photograph, and is in legal possession of its copyrights, and agrees to release the work(s) to the CCRTA, its partners, and media agencies for use in county tourism promotion.
  7. All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on each posted contest deadline. Once an entry has been submitted it cannot be changed.
  8. The submitted photographs will be displayed at random without watermarks on the gantdaily.com website for public viewing.  
  9. By submitting a photograph to this contest, the photographer grants gantdaily.com the rights to freely publish said image online or in other media in relation to the contest, without remuneration.
  10. Photos submitted for the contest will not be re-sold in any way.
  11. gantdaily.com reserves the right to remove material deemed to be abusive, harmful, harassing, pornographic or in other ways unsuitable for display at www.gantdaily.com. We reserve the right to use our discretion on this point.
  12. The winner of each round is determined 50% by public vote, and 50% by votes from a jury of independent qualified judges.
  13. The submission with the highest score in the public voting area wins. If there is a draw, the judges' vote gets preference. The winner decision will be final, no discussion will be entered into.
  14. Any one person may only cast a single, positive vote for each finalist round per day.  Attempts to exploit the system is strictly forbidden, and attempts at doing so may result in the voiding of votes cast and/or the removal of any entries submitted by the offender. The maximum number of eligible votes from any single organization or IP location is 5. Our decision in this respect will be final, no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. gantdaily.com reserves the rights to, if necessary, modify the rules and/or proceedings of the contest, in order to ensure a fair contest.  gantdaily.com has taken the necessary steps to monitor the contest in its entirety, and will actively root out any users attempting to modify the system.
  16. The CCRTA and gantdaily.com are not responsible for lost photos or electronic files.
